The Czech Rally Championship: a preview

All the main contenders of the Czech Championship will be at the start of this first event. Leading the pack with number one on the sides is the winner of the 2023 ERT, René Dohnal, driving a Peugeot 208 Rally4.

This weekend, the tarmac of Klatovy will roar to life as 82 crews take to the track for the first event of the Czech Rally Championship. Organized by PAMK Klatovy, the race spans two days of intense competition, with ten special stages covering a total of 145.94 kilometers.

The Contenders

Leading the pack with number one on the sides is the winner of the 2023 ERT, René Dohnal, driving a Peugeot 208 Rally4. Following the 32-year-old is the multiple national champion and winner of the FIA ERC 2013 and WRC2 2018, Jan Kopecky, who will start with a Skoda Fabia RS Rally2.

The title holder will have to face a strong group of opponents led by Václav Pech, competing with the “old”, but still competitive Ford Focus RS WRC. Also to be watched closely for the final victory are Erik CaisDominik Střitesky, and Adam Brêzik driving Skoda Fabia RS Rally2, Filip Mares with the Toyota Yaris GR Rally2, Jan Cerny with the Skoda Fabia R5, and Martin Vlček on the Hyundai i20 Rally2.

The Classes

Interesting challenges are also expected in the remaining classes. Among the RC4 class, the battle between René Dohnal, Dominik Novotný, and Filip Ócelka stands out, while in the RC5 class, all eyes are on the 20-year-old Tomáš Štuksa.
