Positive debut for Rovanperä in the Porsche Carrera Cup

While waiting to return to the WRC in Latvia, the two-time WRC world champion enjoys racing on the track with Porsche.

Finnish driver Kalle Rovanperä, WRC world champion in 2021 and 2022, made his debut in the Porsche Carrera Cup Benelux with results that can be considered more than positive.

As we await his return to WRC action, where he will compete again in over a month in Latvia, Rovanperä had the opportunity to take on a new challenge on the track. After missing the first event of the season at Spa in May, Rovanperä participated in his first race in the Porsche Carrera Cup Benelux at the renowned Zandvoort circuit in the Netherlands last weekend.

In the first race, Rovanperä started from fourth position on the grid. Thanks to a solid and consistent performance, he maintained this position until the end, missing the podium by just one-tenth of a second. A convincing debut that demonstrated his adaptability and competitiveness even in a context very different from rallying.

The second race was much more challenging for the Finnish driver. Despite difficulties with the car’s setup and trying different settings compared to the previous race, Rovanperä still managed to secure another top-five finish. “I struggled a lot with the car setup after trying different settings compared to yesterday, and the pace was not the same. I am not happy with the result, but overall we can be pleased with the race weekend without making any mistakes,” said Rovanperä.

Looking ahead, Kalle Rovanperä will have the opportunity to further improve his performance in the third round of the Porsche Carrera Cup Benelux, which will be held at the legendary Imola circuit in Italy in just over a month. The hope is that, with the experience gained at Zandvoort and continuous work on the car setup, the talented driver can get even closer to the top positions and, why not, achieve a podium finish.
