The Spanish driver confirms his presence in the 2024 ERC.

After a rollercoaster season in the European rally championship last year, Spanish driver Efren Llarena is gearing up to confirm his presence in the ERC for this season as well.

In 2022, Llarena clinched the European title, but last season, he finished fourth, initially struggling to find the right feel with the new Skoda Fabia RS Rally2. Later, he decided to switch back to the Fabia Rally2 Evo and even to the Fabia R5 for the Barum Rally and the Rally Hungary.

For 2024, Llarena has decided to trust the Czech manufacturer once again with a Skoda Fabia Rally2 Evo, equipped with MRF tires. By his side, in the navigator role, will be Sara Fernandez, who has been accompanying him in the cockpit since 2016.

Llarena’s career is marked by successes in the FIA ERC, including victory in the FIA ERC3 and Junior in 2019, and the European title in 2022. Nationally, he has won the Junior Gravel title in 2017, the Béca Junior R2 RFEdA in 2017, the N5 RMC trophy in 2018, and the Suzuki Trophy in 2016.

Before facing the opening of the ERC championship in Hungary in April, Efren Llarena will be busy this weekend at the Tierras Altas de Lorca rally, the first stage of the Spanish championship. Here, he will compete against the best drivers in the Iberian landscape, including Gus Greensmith. The British driver arrives in Lorca to prepare for his debut in the WRC2, which will take place at the end of the month at the Safari Rally Kenya.
